No Job is beneath you

Work for us is paramount and we strive hard to excel in our respective domains to prove our mettle under various circumstances. For some, it’s about meeting the deadline while others try to set a benchmark for them to make others follow in their footsteps, as it also act as one of the key yardsticks to asses other performance. Nevertheless, it’s up to every individual and their proclivity which defines the performance. Of late, the mindset of Gen Y has changed towards the working culture leading to mass lay off of young employees which has become the root cause of concern at top level in every organization.

There is a dissonance of agreement between top and mid level of employees and this can be attributed to plethora of opportunities available in the market.

Youngsters becoming more job hoppers as they seek for material gain within a short span of time and are prone to make repeated mistakes which make them vulnerable and unsustainable in the long run. This is an alarming issue and clear manifestation which needs to be sort out with immediate measures. Experts reckon it’s a mindset which is prevailing at the entry level among youngsters and should be addressed keeping in mind their approach towards work.  Task is not something that is always related to money and accolades which everyone aspires for but its lot to do with learning, responsibility and experience one imbibe with time. It is the process that needs to be instilled in today’s generation and make them understand about its significance which will guide them in their future course of action. If one look at the successful and eminent personalities, all have started with scratch and went on to become public figure in their respected field. Be it a desk job, cold calling or giving presentation to masses or any fiddling little work carry significant importance.
Everyone has its own school of thought with respect to roles and responsibility and this is something that needs to be addressed as well as highlighted especially during induction programme. Youngsters are more career-driven rather than doing conventional 9 to 6 jobs which is entrenched in most of the private sectors.

Apart from blaming youngsters to switching jobs, it’s high time the corporate honchos need to redefine their working culture and methodology, making it more transparent by including skills development programme, grievance handling, active participation giving a sense of belongingness which will promote a friendly working environment. Now days, the youngster want more creative in their work which enhances their interpersonal skills and prove to be a stepping stone in their career. Unfortunately, this is one of the aspects which don’t exist in most of the companies and everyone has to pull up their socks to make it successful.
